Laser Removal For PCOS

Laser Hair Removal for PCOS & Hormonal Hair Growth in Colchester, Essex

If you organise your mornings around removing facial hair, check your chin before leaving the house or worry about someone noticing the regrowth, we understand that this is about much more than hair.

It can be exhausting to manage something that keeps returning. And when people dismiss it as “just a few hairs”, they miss the time, worry and emotional weight those hairs can carry.

At Remedi Laser, you are not alone, and you do not need to feel embarrassed. We specialise in laser hair reduction for women experiencing PCOS-related and hormonal hair growth, offering thoughtful assessment, honest advice and treatment centred on your individual needs.

Understanding your hair growth

Hirsutism describes the growth of coarse, dark hairs in women in areas such as the chin, upper lip, chest and abdomen. PCOS is a common cause, but it is not the only explanation.

Androgens, including testosterone, are naturally present in women as well as men. Increased androgen levels can encourage hair growth, but some women develop unwanted coarse hair despite normal blood results because their hair follicles are more sensitive to these hormones. Normal results do not make your experience any less real.

Other ovarian or adrenal conditions, hormonal changes around menopause and certain medications can also contribute. Thyroid symptoms and your wider gynaecological history are relevant to medical assessment, although not every thyroid or gynaecological condition causes hirsutism. Where appropriate, we recommend speaking with your GP or specialist to investigate the underlying cause.

Hormonal growth or stimulation after laser?

If you have had laser elsewhere and noticed more hair, you deserve to have that concern taken seriously.

Ongoing hormonal activity can encourage new coarse hairs to develop. Separately, laser or IPL can sometimes cause an unexpected increase in hair growth, known as paradoxical hypertrichosis, particularly on the face and neck.

At Remedi, we review where and when your growth changed, the original hair type, your treatment history and any available photographs. This helps us assess whether the pattern raises concerns about hormonal growth, possible treatment-induced stimulation or a combination of factors. The distinction is not always straightforward, and medical or dermatology input may be needed.

We will explain our assessment and whether further laser is appropriate before recommending a plan.

Experience, care and realistic expectations

Rebecca brings 20 years of industry experience and over 12 years specialising in laser. At Remedi, we combine that experience with solid-state, fibre-delivered 1064 nm Nd:YAG technology, carefully selected settings and cooling.

We assess the hairs individually rather than automatically treating every fine hair across your face. Your skin type, hair thickness, medication and medical history all matter.

Laser can reduce suitable existing hair, but it does not cure PCOS or stop the underlying hormonal drive. A course of treatment and ongoing maintenance may be needed, sometimes alongside medical management.

Our aim is to reduce the burden unwanted hair places on your everyday life: less time at the mirror, less planning around regrowth and more freedom to get on with your day.
