What is a carbon laser facial?
A carbon facial (sometimes called a Hollywood Peel or Carbon Laser Peel) uses a layer of medical-grade carbon paste applied to the skin. This carbon absorbs excess oil, dirt, and dead skin cells deep within the pores. The laser is then passed over the skin, heating and vaporising the carbon — taking all those impurities with it.
But the benefits go much deeper than just a deep clean. The heat from the laser stimulates collagen production, kickstarting your skin’s natural repair process. Over time, this helps to:
- Improve skin texture — smoother, softer skin with a healthy glow.
- Tighten pores — reducing the appearance of large or clogged pores.
- Even out skin tone — addressing pigmentation, age spots, and sun damage.

Is a carbon laser facial right for me?
Carbon laser facials are suitable for most skin types, even sensitive skin. They can be customised to target specific concerns, whether you’re dealing with acne, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness, or just want that fresh post-facial glow.
You’ll see results after one treatment, but for long-term improvements (especially for acne, scarring, or pigmentation), a course of treatments is usually recommended.
Any downtime from a carbon laser facial?
Minimal. You might experience a slight pink flush immediately after, which usually settles within an hour. Some people notice a mild flaking a few days after treatment — this is just your skin shedding old cells to reveal fresh, healthy skin underneath. Pre care for carbon laser facials
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including sunbeds) for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
- Discontinue use of retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliating products for 5–7 days before treatment.
- Stop using any photosensitising medications or treatments (like antibiotics) 48 hours before the session.
- Avoid waxing, threading, or other hair removal methods in the treatment area for at least 1 week before.
- Do not use self-tanners for 2 weeks before treatment.
- Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin (no lotions, oils, or creams).
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the treatment to reduce skin sensitivity.
- If prone to cold sores, take antiviral medication 24 hours before (if recommended by your doctor).
- Let your practitioner know about any recent treatments, skin conditions, or medications.
Post care for carbon last facials
- Avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.
- Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and exercise (sweating) for 24–48 hours post-treatment.
- Do not use retinoids, AHAs, , or other exfoliants for 5–7 days after the treatment.
- Keep skin hydrated with a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser.
- Avoid makeup for 24 hours post-treatment (if needed, use mineral-based makeup).
- Refrain from picking, scrubbing, or exfoliating the treated area while the skin is healing.
- Avoid sunbeds for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
- If redness or mild swelling occurs, apply a cool compress or aloe vera gel.
- Do not undergo any other facial treatments or chemical peels for at least 1 week post-treatment.
