Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal in Colchester, Essex

A tattoo can belong to a chapter of your life you’ve outgrown. Perhaps the design no longer feels like you, the result wasn’t what you hoped for, or you want space for something new. Whatever your reason, you don’t need to justify wanting a change.

At Remedi Laser in Langham, near Colchester, we offer body tattoo removal, fading for cover-ups, removal of suitable tattoos on the hands, neck and face, and eyebrow tattoo removal. Your treatment starts with understanding your goal and assessing how to work towards it while protecting the skin beneath the ink.

Specialist technology, experienced hands

We use British-made, active Q-switched laser technology with 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths. These deliver very short pulses designed to break tattoo pigment into smaller particles, which your body’s immune system gradually clears.

The different wavelengths allow us to target different suitable ink colours. Black and many darker inks typically respond to 1064 nm, while 532 nm can target certain red and warmer pigments. Not every colour responds equally, and the safest wavelength also depends on your skin tone.

Active Q-switching provides external control over pulse release. But good treatment involves more than a specification: choosing the appropriate wavelength, energy, spot size and technique and recognising how your skin is responding are all essential.

Rebecca brings 20 years of industry experience and over 12 years specialising in laser. At Remedi, that experience guides your assessment, treatment and ongoing reviews.

Your skin matters as much as the tattoo

Unsuitable equipment, excessive energy, poor technique or inadequate healing time can damage skin and increase the risk of burns, pigmentation changes and scarring.

The words “medical grade” alone do not guarantee a safe result. What matters is equipment designed for the task, properly maintained and used by someone who understands its capabilities and limitations.

We assess your skin type, tattoo colours, ink density, previous removal attempts, medical history and any existing scarring before recommending treatment. If your tattoo already contains scar tissue, removing the ink may make that texture more visible; laser tattoo removal cannot promise to erase it.

Our aim is progressive fading with careful attention to skin recovery. No responsible practitioner can guarantee scar-free treatment or complete removal.

Removal, cover-up fading and eyebrow tattoos

You may not need your tattoo completely removed. Fading an existing design can give your tattoo artist more freedom with a cover-up, rather than having to disguise dense ink with a larger or darker design. We can plan around the areas your artist needs lightened.

Hand, neck and facial tattoos need individual assessment, with particular attention to location, skin characteristics and protection.

Eyebrow tattoos and permanent makeup also require a different conversation. Cosmetic pigments can change colour or darken after laser, and previously hidden tones may become visible as treatment progresses. We discuss these possibilities, assess a test area where appropriate and use eye protection suited to the treatment location.

Honest expectations from the beginning

Tattoo removal is a process, not a single appointment. Ink colour, layering, location, skin type and your body’s response all influence progress. Some tattoos fade readily; others are more resistant, and residual pigment may remain.

We’ll discuss an estimated treatment course and costs, explain the limits of that estimate, and review your response rather than promise a fixed number of sessions. Adequate intervals allow your skin to heal and your body to continue clearing pigment.

Treatment can be uncomfortable. We use cooling to support comfort and explain expected skin reactions, aftercare and when to contact us with concerns.
